Silver Beach (also known as Crystal Bay or Haad Thong Ta-khian) is a hidden gem tucked into a small cove between Chaweng and Lamai. At just 250 meters, it's compact but exceptionally beautiful, with some of the finest, most powdery white sand on the island.

The granite boulders framing both ends of the cove create a natural reef habitat. Snorkelling here reveals colourful tropical fish and coral beds within just 5 metres of the shoreline without needing a boat trip — bring your own gear for the best experience, as rental availability varies. The calm, shallow waters (1–2 metres near shore) are ideal for families with young children, and the natural rock formations provide safe boundaries.

Some rocky patches are present in the water, particularly around the granite boulders at either end of the cove. While these rocks create the excellent snorkelling habitat, they can be hazardous for swimmers — water shoes are recommended, and always look before wading in.

Silver Beach is one of Koh Samui's more peaceful spots, though its growing popularity means it can get busy around midday during peak season (December–April). Visit early morning for the most tranquil experience. Access is primarily through resort properties, though public access paths are available with some navigation.

There are no lifeguards on this beach — swimming is at your own risk. During the monsoon season (July–November, peaking November–December), the east-facing coast can experience rip currents and undertows. Check weather conditions before visiting and avoid entering the water in rough seas.
