Bang Po Beach

Bang Po Beach stretches for 3.5 kilometers along the northwest coast, offering a distinctly local atmosphere with a bohemian character. The beach is famous for a unique sunset reflection phenomenon — the extremely shallow water creates mirror-like conditions that produce a stunning 'double sunset' visual effect. On clear days, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao are visible across the water to the north.

The sand varies from golden to light yellow, with a coarser mix of soil and clay in some sections. The texture can become sticky after rain. Water clarity varies — crystal clear on calm days, but can turn murky after rain or strong winds, with occasional algae and seaweed. At low tide, extensive shallows are exposed with rocks and boulders, and the waterline can retreat significantly. Water shoes are recommended.

Small restaurants with grilled seafood directly on the sand create an authentic Thai beach dining experience that's hard to match elsewhere. Sunbeds, umbrellas, and toilet facilities are available through beachfront restaurants and venues — there are no public facilities on the beach itself. The quiet location and minimal tourist infrastructure attract exploratory travelers and residents seeking peace.

During monsoon season (November–December), watch for rip currents and undertow. Check for red flags before swimming. There are no public lifeguards — swimming is at your own risk. The beach is best for swimming at high tide when rocks are submerged.

The beach is very quiet with limited nightlife and few dedicated children's activities — families and party-seekers may prefer livelier beaches like Chaweng or Bangrak.
