Explorar on Maenam Beach marks New Year's Eve with a beachfront gala buffet and countdown party on Thursday 31 December, from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
The buffet has a seafood station with Fine de Claire oysters, Canadian lobster, tiger prawns and tuna sashimi, and a carving station with Black Angus striploin and brisket, veal tenderloin and sea bass baked in salt. There's truffle pasta finished in a Parmesan wheel, pad Thai and som tam from the live station, and Thai curries including a massaman of braised wagyu beef cheek. Desserts include mango sticky rice pudding and a petit four tower.
After dinner, live music and DJ sets move the party on towards midnight, when fireworks go up over the sea. Lucky draws run through the evening. The gala costs ฿6,000 net per person.
