Your Guide to Playing Padel on Koh Samui in 2026

Five clubs, covered courts, coaching, and everything a visiting player needs to know

Playing Padel on Koh Samui

After dark on Koh Samui's north coast, the flat pop of a ball off tempered glass carries out from courts lit by LED floodlights. Padel has arrived on the island quickly. Six dedicated clubs now sit around the north, east, and south coasts, and the international tour has already stopped here: the FIP Bronze Samui was played on the island in May 2026. For a visiting player, that means a proper game is rarely more than a short drive and a WhatsApp message away.

The sport is easy to start and hard to put down. The court is smaller than a tennis court and enclosed by glass and mesh walls that keep the ball in play. The serve is underarm, so most newcomers are rallying within their first session.

This guide covers the five clubs with the most to offer visiting players, ordered by how much each one provides and publishes about itself. After the clubs come the practical details: booking, coaching, equipment, weather, and getting around.

Padel Tropical

The most complete padel club on the island sits in Bangrak, about 15 minutes by road from Samui airport. Padel Tropical has five courts built to international specifications. Three are covered, with blue turf under a high roof, and two are open-air courts in pink, framed by palms.

Coaching is the club's strength. A team of three coaches, including Gianluca and Calvin, teaches in English and Italian, with private lessons for every level and video feedback on request. Group clinics take up to four players for 90 minutes of tactics, drills, and match play. There are beginner classes and junior sessions too, and a visiting Spanish professional, Adrián Baamonde, offers a limited number of slots to play alongside him.

The social calendar is the fullest on this list. Weekly social tournaments and mixed doubles nights fill the regular week. A women's social night and league nights sit alongside them, and ranked tournaments take place every month.

Off court, a restaurant and courtside bar serve Thai and European food from breakfast through to dinner. There is a terrace for groups, a wellness area for after the match, and changing rooms with showers. Courts book through Playtomic, the club website, or WhatsApp, and the Pushit app records courtside video replays of rallies.

  • Bangrak, around 15 minutes from Samui airport
  • Five courts: three covered, two outdoor
  • Open daily, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; book via Playtomic, website, or WhatsApp

Padel Samui

Padel Samui, in Plai Laem on the island's northeast tip, is the choice for players who want more than one racket sport. Alongside four padel courts, two of them covered, it has three pickleball courts, tennis courts, and beach tennis. The courts are built to LTA and PTA standards and lit by high-lumen LEDs for night play.

Competition is constant here. The club hosts friendly competitions and tournaments seven days a week, including Americano and King of the Court formats. WhatsApp players' groups make it simple to find a match.

Coaching covers padel and tennis from beginner to advanced. Packages include a ball machine and practice equipment, and an introductory course eases complete novices into the game. For a longer stay, the club's week-long Padel Retreats combine coaching with organised matches. Guests stay in cottages on site, and the package adds island experiences between sessions.

Courts book online through the club website or the Padel Samui app. The clubhouse serves food and drinks.

  • Plai Laem, near Choeng Mon Beach
  • Four padel courts (two covered), plus pickleball, tennis, and beach tennis
  • Open daily, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; book online, via the app, or by WhatsApp

Prime Padel

The newest club on the island opened in September 2026, five minutes from Fisherman's Village just off the ring road. Prime Padel has five padel courts and a separate court for private coaching, with more courts planned. The covered courts have panoramic glass walls. The outdoor courts are left open to catch the sea breeze.

Every court has full LED floodlighting, and the club is built for the afternoon and evening. Courts open at noon, with the last booking at 9 p.m. An air-conditioned clubhouse with a full bar and lounge sits beside the courts, with changing rooms, showers, and lockers.

Courts book through Playtomic. Rackets and balls are available to rent, and the club's WhatsApp community shares news of open play nights and events.

  • Bophut, between Mae Nam and Fisherman's Village
  • Five courts plus a dedicated private coaching court
  • Open daily, noon to 10 p.m.; book via Playtomic

Padel Paradise

Padel Paradise, on Lamai's main road, is the one club on this list in the south of the island. All three courts are covered, which keeps play going through the midday sun and tropical downpours. There are two standard doubles courts and a singles court for one-on-one games.

The clubhouse sells drinks and snacks, and its outdoor terraces look over the courts. There are changing rooms with secure lockers, and showers. Rackets, balls, and accessories can be rented or bought at the counter.

Private and group lessons are available, and the club organises tournaments. A WhatsApp group helps players find partners. Courts book through Playtomic or in person at the clubhouse, and they are open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day.

  • Lamai main road
  • Two doubles courts and one singles court, all covered
  • Open daily, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; book via Playtomic or at the clubhouse

Bantai Padel

Bantai Padel sits on a plot between Ban Tai Beach and the main road in Mae Nam, and it is the most relaxed club of the five. The courts are outdoors, with shaded seating and fridges courtside, and the sea is a few steps away.

Courts book through Playtomic, and private coaching is arranged by WhatsApp. Rental rackets come in pro and standard versions. Beyond the courts, the club offers padel holiday packages with accommodation and food. It also has fitness programmes, including weight loss, Muay Thai, and a detox padel plan.

Its rain policy is worth knowing. A booking can be cancelled or moved if it is still raining 30 minutes before the start time, and cancellations made 12 hours ahead are refunded in full.

  • Ban Tai, Mae Nam, on the north coast
  • Outdoor courts with shaded seating
  • Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Booking: Playtomic and WhatsApp

Playtomic, the padel booking app used by clubs worldwide, is the main way to reserve a court on Samui. Padel Tropical, Prime Padel, Padel Paradise, and Bantai Padel all list their courts on it. Padel Samui uses its own online system and app instead.

WhatsApp is the other essential. Every club on this list has a WhatsApp contact or players' group, and the groups are the quickest way for a visiting player to find a fourth for doubles. Early mornings and floodlit evenings fill first, so booking a day ahead is sensible in high season.

Coaching and First Games

Complete beginners are well served. Padel Tropical and Padel Samui have the most structured programmes, from introductory courses to group clinics and junior sessions. Prime Padel and Padel Paradise have courts set aside for private and singles coaching. Bantai Padel arranges private lessons by message.

A first lesson usually covers the grip, the underarm serve, and how to play the ball off the back glass. That last skill is the one that separates padel from tennis.

Equipment

There is no need to travel with a racket. All five clubs rent rackets and balls, and Bantai Padel offers both pro and standard rental rackets. Padel Paradise sells accessories at its clubhouse, and Padel Tropical stocks branded apparel at reception.

Footwear matters more than the racket. Court shoes with a herringbone or omni sole grip the sand-filled turf; running shoes tend to slide.

When to Play

Heat is the main opponent. From March to May the midday sun makes outdoor courts hard work, and most players book early in the morning or after 5 p.m., when the floodlights come on.

The wettest stretch arrives from October to early December, with November the heaviest month. Covered courts are the answer. Padel Paradise is fully covered, Padel Tropical has three covered courts, and Padel Samui and Prime Padel both have covered courts too. At Bantai Padel, the rain policy protects bookings on its outdoor courts.

December to February brings the most comfortable conditions of the year: lower humidity, cooler evenings, and a steady breeze off the sea.

Getting There

Four of the five clubs sit on the north and northeast coast, between Mae Nam, Bophut, Bangrak, and Plai Laem. A player based in Bophut or Choeng Mon is never far from a court. Padel Paradise is the exception, on the main road through Lamai.

All five clubs have parking for cars and scooters. The ring road through Chaweng can slow evening journeys, so allow extra time for a booking just after sunset.

Padel on Samui is young enough that the clubs are still building as they go. Prime Padel has more courts on the way, and Padel Tropical brings in a visiting professional. The tour has already been and gone once. For now, the best courts on the island are the ones with a free slot at 6 p.m. and a breeze coming off the Gulf.
